In a global first, Victory Knives developed the XTB Sailor's Blade using laser sintering 3D printing technology and a proprietary hardening process. Developed for Emirates Team New Zealand's use in the 2013 America's Cup campaign and worn on the wetsuit thigh pocket and vest, it was the team’s emergency knife for cutting away ropes during the world's ultimate yachting series.
There is no titanium waste in the manufacturing process of the XTB Sailor's Blade. The lightweight knife weighs a mere 31g, fractionally lighter than its sheath at 34g. The base is powdered titanium 6AI-4V and is coated with PVD, which is a hard ceramic giving an average Rockwell near surface hardness of HRC 60.
